Living Water Garden

Welcome to the future home of our Aquaponic Greenhouse Program. The greenhouse will not only aid in helping those in recovery by promoting accountability & responsibility, but it will also become a financial backing for the various recovery-centered programs we intend to implement in this community that we love so dearly.

What is Aquaponics

Aquaponics is a sustainable method of growing plants and fish together in a recirculating ecosystem that uses natural processes to convert fish waste into nutrients for the plants.

Inside Peek at the System

Here's how it works:

  • Fish tanks: Fish are grown in tanks, where bacteria break down their waste into natural fertilizer.

  • Filtration: A filtration system connects the fish tanks to the plant tanks.

  • Water transfer: A pump moves the water from the fish tanks to the plant tanks.

  • Plant absorption: The plants absorb the nitrogen from the water, which feeds them and cleans the water.

  • Water return: The clean water is then pumped back into the fish tanks, and the cycle starts again

Helping Others Help Themselves

Harvesting Hope Recovery is so proud to be a part of such giving and supportive communities, and we feel the importance of being able to give back as well. We were given the honor and opportunity to partner with Mayes County HOPE to help the students of a local school set up and learn how an Aquaponic system works firsthand. This means that these students get to learn how to grow produce WITHOUT soil! It was a very cool experience.

Benefits to Learning/Utilizing Aquaponics

-Food is grown all year round

-Reduces water usage

-No soil, no weeding

-Accelerated Plant Growth

-Reduces the Planet's Carbon Footprint

-Supports a Self-Sufficient Way of Living

What the Greenhouse has to offer those in recovery.

Unfortunately not everyone's trauma/addiction or healing process is the same. What the Greenhouse has to offer on that level is a safe space where an individual can come to get away from their current situation.

It's a space where they can learn how to nurture and care for something (and without realizing it, themselves as well) through the whole life cycle process.

A place to learn something new, a place where they can form healthier habits and relationships with people who are not addicts, thereby giving them a chance to recover from their own addictions.

Once the Greenhouse is in full swing, our goal is to be able to sell our products throughout the communities. In doing this we are not only providing a way of therapy for those needing the program, we are also helping them to gain responsibility along with a work ethic. That way, they are able to re-join society with a fresh outlook and obtain gainful employment elsewhere.

The Greenhouse is part of a national network of similar enterprises that provide therapy for people who need it and allow the items the therapy program produces to be sold to help keep the program self-sustaining.
